Madison Environmental Group, Inc.’s Erin Schneider and Kathryne Auerback will offer a presentation on the EnAct sustainable living program, an action-oriented book club approach to reducing environmental impact and building community. EnAct was developed in 2003 to help individuals and their communities take steps together to conserve energy, waste less, avoid toxins, save water, drive less, and eat well.

Participants work individually or in teams to learn first steps, next steps, and beyond through the EnAct: Steps to Greener Living book and a resource-rich companion web site. Pre- and post-survey data is tracked to show how each individual’s efforts can add up to big results. Since its inception, the program has helped over 1,400 save approximately $530,000 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 6 million pounds.

Madison Environmental Group, Inc.’s team of expert consultants, scientists, engineers, and educators provide significant support for community development, team leader training, program promotion, and continuous improvement of the program materials and resources. They’re even available to answer participants’ questions via the toll-free EnAct “cool” line!

A post-presentation discussion will answer questions and explore the possibility of adopting the EnAct program as part of Eau Claire County’s overall sustainability strategy. Bringing this program to Eau Claire County will inspire, support from private companies and government agencies for building a sustainable community poised for future growth.

A lunch of local and organic food is provided thus space is limited. Please reserve your seat by March 1st by calling (715) 839-4714. If you’re interested but unable to join us on March 6th, please let us know and we will contact you with future opportunities for involvement. We look forward to meeting with you soon.

Sustainably Yours,
