It is very early in conference planning but we do have our three keynote speakers lined up - Will Allen, Growing Power; Michael Perry (local author - I'm reading his latest book "Coop" right now) and Melinda Hemmelgarn, Food Sleuth columnist and nutritionist.
We are excited to be holding the 12^th Annual Value Added Agriculture Conference jointly with the Wisconsin Local Food Network’s 4^th Annual Local Food Summit. The conference will be held at The Ramada Convention Center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on January 20-22, 2010.
Conference planners have worked diligently to tailor the workshops to suit the needs and interests of attendees, as well as the Midwest region.
There will be breakout sessions as well as round table discussions available for participants to listen, learn and/or discuss how to address the agricultural issues we are dealing with today. These issues include (but are not limited to) building a local food economy, on-farm and at home bio-energy options, farm marketing, and business management.
The 2010 conference is adding a third day to the agenda! For the first time, the conference will begin with a day of three 6-hour sessions in response to the need for more in-depth coverage of selected topics. We are working with the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, among others, to develop an appropriate curriculum that will provide an intense learning environment.
