University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/ UW-Extension recently was awarded a grant for $16,150 from the Otto Bremer Foundation to create a nonprofit leadership certificate series.
The series is designed to provide professional education opportunities to nonprofit professionals in the area.

“We hope to provide a unique opportunity for nonprofit professionals to engage in valuable networking opportunities which, ideally, would lead to more collaboration,” said Nikki Andrews, an outreach specialist in Continuing Education, who is leading the effort. “During these economic times, it is critical that we work together to meet community needs.”

The series will run from January-June 2010. Individuals may take any number of courses individually or sign up for all six and receive a certificate in nonprofit leadership.

All programs will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at various Eau Claire locations.

The courses are as follows:

Fundamentals of Nonprofit Management: Jan. 12, Metropolis Hotel. Instructor: JoAnn Stormer, Leadership Wisconsin.

Nonprofit Strategic Planning: Feb. 2, Ramada Convention Center. Instructor: Frank Martinelli, Center for Public Skills Training.

Nonprofit Financial Management & Reporting: March 2, Sleep Inn & Suites Conference Center/29 Pines. Instructor: Scott Haumersen, Wegner LLP CPAs and Consultants.

Nonprofit Board Development & Management: April 6, Banbury Place. Instructor: Tami Satre, Junior Achievement.

Nonprofit Fundraising: May 4, Fischers’ on the Green. Instructor: Heidi Fisher, Chippewa Valley Technical College Foundation and Alumni Association.

Nonprofit Marketing & Communications: June 1, Presidents Room, Davies Center, UW-Eau Claire. Instructor: Sara Antonson, Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley.
